Now showing: The Time Has Come—To Make a Difference!Selections from an International Global Poster Competition on HIV/AIDS and the ChurchNovember 18, 2007 - January 13, 2008 Supporting Hands Are Compassionate Hearts, by Babatunde Morgan (Sierra Leone). A poster from the 2003 Ecumenical Advocacy Alliance Global Poster Competition This exhibit stems from "Honoring the Body of Christ: Healing in the Church with AIDS," an eighteen-month project funded by the Practice Grants Program of the Valparaiso Project on the Education and Formation of People in Faith. "Honoring the Body of Christ" has gathered a small group of people to talk, think, pray, and wrestle with issues of HIV/AIDS and the Church. The posters displayed in this exhibit were selected by group members from the 100 finalists of a 2003 poster competition sponsored by the Ecumenical Advocacy Alliance in Geneva, Switzerland. As the web page about the competition described it, "The posters in this collection represent the feelings and emotions of children, youth and adults all over the world. They represent the concerns, fears and hopes of people in the face of HIV and AIDS. They document the experiences of stigma and discrimination, and they document acts of compassion and caring." The exhibit asks visitors to consider their own responses to people infected with and affected by HIV and AIDS. You are invited—to make a difference! Opening Reception: Sunday, November 18, 2:00 P.M. |
