We are grateful for the life of Martin Gilman, who died on February 26, 2009 at the age of 93. Martin was an esteemed congregation member, lay leader, and friend who served the church for seven decades.

The funeral took place at the church on Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at 2:00 P.M., with the service of committal immediately following. Read the funeral sermon by Pastor Larsen and the reflection by Marilyn Lund.

Contributions to University Lutheran in Martin's memory may be sent to the church office or made online. Checks should be made out to "University Lutheran Church" with "Martin Gilman memorial" in the memo line. To give online, go to UniLu's secure giving page and enter the amount in the line labeled "Other Gift, specify." In the text box next to the amount, enter "Martin Gilman memorial."

We hold Martin's beloved wife Mildred and their sons Edward and Peter in our thoughts and prayers. As Pastor Joanne Engquist wrote in her note informing congregation members of Martin's death, "May the grief we share be held ever with our thanksgiving for Martin's life."
